Abstract

Concentration in learning is an important ability that must be possessed by early childhood to support their learning success in the future. However, lately, concentration problems have often been found in children, including in class B2. This study aims to determine the strategies used by teachers in training the concentration of learning of children aged 5-6 years at Al-I'Dad An Nuur Kindergarten, Ngangkrik, Triharjo, Sleman. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method, data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation. The subjects of the study were class teachers, class B2 students, and the principal. The focus of the study includes the condition of children's concentration while studying in class, teaching strategies applied by teachers, and factors in children's concentration in learning. The results of the study showed that the condition of children's concentration in class B2 varied. Girls were better able to concentrate on learning, while boys began to lose their concentration in learning after 10-15 minutes. Teachers apply various strategies in training children's concentration in class, such as setting study rules, brain gymnastics, singing while moving, and ice breaking. Supporting factors for concentration in learning are the child's physical condition, drinking intake, and teaching methods. Meanwhile, factors that inhibit concentration in learning are parenting patterns, cellphone addiction and undisciplined rules at home. This study is expected to provide guidance for teachers and PAUD institutions in designing effective learning programs to improve children's concentration in learning. With good concentration, children can be active and involved in the learning process, so that their learning outcomes are optimal.
