Abstract
Parents with different occupational backgrounds have varying impacts on the development of children's mathematics learning outcomes. Parental education plays a crucial role in the academic development of children. This study aims to: 1) Determine the effect of parental occupation on the cognitive mathematics learning outcomes of elementary school students. 2) Examine the impact of parental education level on the cognitive mathematics learning outcomes of elementary school students. 3) Investigate the combined influence of parental occupation and education level on the cognitive mathematics learning outcomes of elementary school students. This study is a quantitative research. The data collection technique utilized secondary data from first-grade students of SD Muhammadiyah Condong Catur I Yogyakarta for the 2023/2024 academic year. The analytical method applied in this research was parametric analysis using multiple linear regression, with the types of parents' occupations serving as dummy variables and parents' education levels as independent variables, aiming to examine the relationships among the involved variables. The research sample consisted of 147 students. The results of this study revealed that out of 8 types of parental occupations, only one occupation significantly influenced mathematics learning outcomes, namely the occupation of a doctor, with a significance value of 0.02 (Sig. 0.02 < 0.05), indicating an effect. Other types of occupations did not significantly influence mathematics learning outcomes. Furthermore, no positive and significant effect was found between parents' education levels and students' mathematics learning outcomes, as evidenced by a significance value of 0.11 (Sig. 0.11 > 0.05). However, a positive and significant effect was observed between parents' occupations and education levels on students' mathematics learning outcomes simultaneously, with a significance value of 0.02 (Sig. 0.02 < 0.05) and an influence rate of 18.6%. Therefore, it is concluded that parents' occupations and education levels do not significantly impact students' cognitive learning outcomes in mathematics
