Abstract

The rise of suicides among students has become a serious health problem, the mental health of students is important to be reviewed specifically as a preventive measure against harmful things. It is necessary to increase awareness about student mental health by looking at the correlation between the variable student perceptions of lecturer competence and the variable assertive behavior of students with the variable student ego resilience. This research methodology uses a mixed method sequential explanatory model with data collection steps from respondents using google forms (soft files) and print outs (hard files) using accidental sampling techniques, namely sampling by means of researchers choosing the most accessible or available subjects at the time the research was conducted. The sample used in this study amounted to 350 respondents. Multiple regression analysis was used to analyze quantitative data using IBM SPSS 26. Furthermore, qualitative data collection uses interview techniques with the aim of strengthening quantitative research findings. The research findings show that there is a partial correlation of perceived lecturer competence on ego resilience of 0.135 which has a positive direction. Partial correlation of assertive behavior towards ego resilience of 0.723 has a positive direction. Simultaneously, the variables of perceived lecturer competence and assertive behavior are positively correlated to ego resilience with a significance level of 0.000. When student perceptions of lecturer competence increase, student ego resilience also increases. When student assertive behavior increases, student ego resilience also increases.
