Abstract

This research purposes to determine the implementation of a living collection (LC) as a medium for inclusivity awareness and knowledge preservation at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta Library. The method of this research was qualitative research methods. Informants in the research were selected based on a purposive sampling of LC management librarians, leaders, and users. The techniques in data collection were observation, interview, and documentation. Data validity test used source triangulation and technique triangulation. The data analysis technique is through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study, Implementation of LC as a medium for inclusivity awareness and knowledge preservation at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta Library, namely, 1) Inclusivity awareness through LC with the Index for Inclusion (Ainscow) model is formed through (a) creating an inclusive culture. (b) the development of inclusive policies, and (c) evolving inclusive practice. 2) LC as a medium of knowledge preservation based on the SECI model theory (Nonaka &Takeuchi. The SECI model can be applied to the LC concept at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Library, namely: (a) socialization, namely tacit knowledge is converted into new tacit knowledge (b) externalization, namely tacit knowledge is converted into explicit knowledge, (c) combination, namely by combining explicit knowledge is converted into new explicit and (d) internalization, namely explicit knowledge is converted into new tacit knowledge. The internalization stage in the knowledge conversion process is still not maximally applied to LC. However, the presence of the LC program has succeeded in creating an open space for the academic community regardless of background and erasing negative stigmas. In addition, LC is also present as a medium for knowledge preservation at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta Library.
