Abstract

Sexual violence is a serious violation of human rights that causes harm and often leaves deep traumatic impacts on victims. In Indonesia, this issue continues to rise each year and has become a highly concerning problem, especially in the educational environment. This study aims to analyze the responses of male and female students at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta to the education and socialization of sexual violence conducted by the Integrated Service Center (PLT). The primary focus of this study is to compare gender-based perceptions of sexual violence education and socialization on campus. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method, drawing on constructivism and gender theory as the basis for analysis. The findings show that male and female students have different views and responses regarding sexual violence education and socialization. They have different perspectives on the issue, as well as varying levels of understanding and awareness regarding prevention. Female students are more focused on victim protection, while male students emphasize institutional responsibility. These differences in response are influenced by gender stereotypes, where female students associate sexual violence with its impact on women, while male students view it from a structural perspective. The findings suggest that social norms and gender inequality influence how male and female students respond to sexual violence issues on campus. By understanding the prevailing socio-cultural context and gender norms, this research is expected to provide a foundation for universities to design more inclusive and effective education policies and programs.
