Abstract

This research is motivated by the productivity of the livestock sector in Indonesia which is still not optimal, especially in the poultry sector. Many poultry farmers still use traditional methods in hatching eggs due to economic constraints for lower-middle class farmers. For this reason, this study aims to design and implement an automatic egg incubator using used cardboard, temperature and humidity control using the NTC MF52AT sensor and incandescent lamps. This research method applies an experimental method using duck eggs. The research was carried out with the stages of designing an egg incubator, characterizing the NTC MF52AT sensor, making an egg incubator, and testing the egg incubator. The results of the study showed that the egg incubator based on used cardboard, the NTC MF52AT temperature sensor, and the incandescent lamp was successfully designed using the Sketcup 2022 software. The NTC MF52AT temperature sensor was successfully characterized and produced output in the form of resistance values and input in the form of temperature values and a transfer function of R = (0,401 + 0,002 T) Ohm. The egg incubator was successfully made with an overall success rate of 100%, temperature accuracy of 99.40% and precision repeatability of temperature of 99.74% so that the egg incubator that utilizes used cardboard can be applied and help increase the productivity of the poultry farming sector for middle to lower class farmers. This is in line with Islamic insight into the sustainability of life and the importance of the reproduction of living things.
