Abstract

Indonesia is one of the largest maritime countries in the world, for this reason the maritime and fisheries sector should be leading sector that should be able to lift the economy of the Indonesian people. Natural resources from waters are very capable of meeting food needs and as an economic resource for the Indonesian people. As the largest producer of fisheries production in Indonesia, East Java Province is expected to be able to make a major contribution to increasing the economic growth of its community. However, this has not been able to be realized through current policies. It is proven that East Java Province's GDRP per capita as an indicator of economic growth is still lagging behind other provinces on the island of Java and even in Indonesia. To prove this actually, this research was carried out, which aims to determine the influence of the production of the two fisheries sub-sectors, namely fishing and cultivation, on the GDRP of districts and cities in East Java Province, and also to determine the influence of the number of households working in the two sub-sectors. Fisheries on the GDRP of districts and cities in East Java Province. This research was estimated using the panel data regression method with the best model chosen being the Fixed Effect Model (FEM). The research results show that Capture Fisheries Production, Capture Fisheries Households, Aquaculture Production, and Aquaculture Households simultaneously have a significant effect on GRDP in East Java Province. Partially, all independent variables have a significant effect, but the household variable Capture Fisheries and Cultivation has a significant negative effect on GRDP in East Java Province.
