Abstract

The objectives of this study are: 1) To identify students' verbal-linguistic intelligence, 2) To analyze the implementation of the ethnopedagogical RADEC model in Indonesian language lessons, 3) To evaluate the improvement in students' verbal-linguistic intelligence after applying the RADEC model, and 4) To examine the implications for verbal-linguistic intelligence and descriptive writing skills between students taught with the RADEC model and those taught using conventional methods. This study employs a mixed-method approach with a sequential explanatory design. Quantitative data were collected first through a quasi-experiment involving 45 fifth-grade students from SD N 1 Prambanan and SD Muhammadiyah Sambisari. The initial analysis used normality and homogeneity tests, paired sample t-tests, independent sample t-tests, and N-Gain calculations. The second stage involved qualitative data collection through observations and interviews with the school principal, teachers, and students. The research indicate that: (1) Fifth-grade students' verbal-linguistic intelligence showed positive results, especially in listening and speaking. (2) The implementation of the RADEC model based on ethnopedagogy integrated local cultural values through folktales and observations of gamelan instruments. (3) The Paired Sample T-Test showed a significant improvement with a p-value of 0.000 and an N-Gain of 0.4198, indicating a moderate increase in verbal-linguistic intelligence. (4) The Independent Sample T-Test revealed a significant difference between students taught with the RADEC model and those taught with conventional learning methods. In terms of verbal-linguistic intelligence, the p-value was 0.006, and for descriptive writing skills, the p-value was 0.004.
