Abstract

This research was motivated by the fact that some students still have low motivation to learn mathematics and slow calculation speed, which can hinder the learning process. Based on the analysis, the low motivation to learn mathematics and slow calculation speed were attributed to the learning media used, which had not been optimal in facilitating students to learn mathematics and improve their calculation speed. The objectives of this research are: 1) to develop interactive multimedia based on Arcademics games, 2) to analyze the feasibility of Arcademics-based interactive multimedia, and 3) to analyze the effectiveness of Arcademics-based interactive multimedia in enhancing learning motivation and calculation speed. This research employed the ADDIE development model, which consists of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The data collection techniques and instruments used in this research included questionnaires, observation, and documentation. The sample for this research was 18 fourth-grade students from UPT SD Negeri Merbau. The data obtained were analyzed using both qualitative and quantitative data analysis. Quantitative data analysis utilized the paired sample t-test assisted by JASP. The results showed that: 1) interactive multimedia based on Arcademics games, specifically the Grand Prix Multiplication type, was successfully developed using the ADDIE model with specifications of an online competition-based game, equipped with point and reward features, requiring a stable internet connection of at least 1-3 Kbps. 2) The Arcademics-based interactive multimedia was deemed feasible for use as a mathematics learning medium based on evaluations from subject matter experts, media experts, and teacher feedback. 3) Based on the results of the paired sample t-test hypothesis test on students' learning motivation, the p-value is <.001, t-value = 7.684, and Cohen’s d = 1.811. The effectiveness test on calculation speed shows a p-value of <.001, t-value = 11.327, and Cohen’s d = 2.670. It can be concluded that the interactive multimedia based on the Arcademics game is effective in improving students' learning motivation and calculation speed.
