Abstract

Learning discipline is one of the key pillars that determines students' success in the educational process. Amid increasingly complex social and economic dynamics, challenges in learning discipline not only impact students' academic achievement but also affect the development of character, attitude, and self-management skills essential for their future success. This study aims to: 1) identify the map of learning discipline among students at SD Negeri Ringinsari; 2) understand the determinant factors of learning discipline among these students; 3) explore the obstacles related to weak learning discipline among the students at SD Negeri Ringinsari; and 4) identify strategies to strengthen the learning discipline attitudes of students at SD Negeri Ringinsari. This study employs a mixed-methods approach with a sequential explanatory design. Quantitative data were collected first through questionnaires administered to a sample of 41 fifth- and sixth-grade students at SD Negeri Ringinsari. The results were then analyzed using percentage calculations to map the students' learning discipline. The second stage involved collecting qualitative data through observations and interviews with teachers, parents, and students. The study reveals that the map of student learning discipline at SD Negeri Ringinsari generally falls into the high category, with some students in the moderate category. Several factors contribute to high learning discipline, including students' personal motivation, support from parents and family, the role of teachers and the school environment, as well as learning strategies and time management. Additionally, some factors hinder learning discipline, such as a tendency to procrastinate and forget assigned tasks, low self-confidence that may lead to embarrassment and reluctance to ask questions in class, and an excessive focus on play activities, which can interfere with study time. Strategies employed by teachers and parents to strengthen discipline include establishing routines and habits, providing motivation and positive reinforcement, using a personal approach, fostering teacher collaboration, and leveraging technology. Other strategies involve implementing a consistent study routine for the child, creating a conducive study environment, motivating children through rewards, accompanying them during study sessions, assisting when they encounter difficulties, and collaborating with teachers.
