Abstract
Research has been conducted on the study of scan rate variations on the characteristics of ascorbic acid voltammograms by cyclic voltammetry method using Screen-Printed Carbon Electrode (SPCE). This study aims to examine the effect of scan rate variations on the characteristics of ascorbic acid voltammograms by cyclic voltammetry method using Screen-Printed Carbon Electrode (SPCE). The effect of scan rate was observed in the range of 0.025 to 0.25 V/s. The cyclic voltammograms resulting from the analysis showed ascorbic acid to have a characteristic single oxidation peak (irreversible) at a potential of about 0.2 to 0.4 V. This is in accordance with the natural properties of ascorbic acid which is easily oxidized to dehydroascorbic acid. The results of cyclic voltammetry with an increase in scan rate cause a shift in peak potential and an increase in current intensity. The peak current measurement results are directly proportional to the square root of the scan rate indicating that the oxidation reaction mechanism of ascorbic acid at the SPCE electrode surface is largely controlled by diffusion. Validation tests were also performed in this method for linearity, limit of detection (LOD), and accuracy parameters. The validation analysis showed a coefficient of determination (R2) value of 0.9859, the detection limit (LOD) of 15,81 ppm, and an accuracy of 117 %, 117,13 % for the concentration of ascorbic acid in a row 20 ppm, 30 ppm. The results of this study confirmed that the cyclic voltammetry method SPCE electrode has potential as an analytical tool for ascorbic acid.
