Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), trade openness, inflation, and environmental degradation (measured by CO2 emissions) on economic growth in lower middle-income (Kamboja, Vietnam, Myanmar, Laos, Filipina) ASEAN countries for the period 2010-2023. The type of data used in this study is secondary data. Using a panel data regression model in the form of a combination of time series and cross section data. The results show that FDI and trade openness have a positive and significant effect on economic growth, while inflation and environmental degradation have a negative and significant effect on economic growth in lower middle income ASEAN countries. The findings indicate that increasing foreign direct investment and expanding international market access can boost economic growth in the region. Conversely, high inflation rates and environmental degradation hinder economic growth. The results of this study provide important implications for policymakers in ASEAN countries in formulating policies that can promote sustainable economic growth.
