Abstract
Butterflies have high abundance in Indonesia. The existence of butterflies in nature functions as an environmental bioindicator and plays a role in pollination and contributes to the sustainability of plant regeneration. One location that has the potential for butterfly abundance is Kedung Banteng village, Sleman, Yogyakarta. This study aims to study the diversity, level of diversity, dominance, evenness and environmental parameters in the dry and rainy seasons and to study the conservation status of each butterfly species found. This study was conducted from July to December 2024 which was divided into two seasons (dry and rainy) using the visual encounter survey (VES) method and exploration in the Kedung Banteng village area with an area of 10% of 17 ha. The results of the study in the dry season found 53 species from 41 genera and 54 species from 41 genera in the rainy season. The diversity index value (H ') in the dry and rainy seasons was (KU: 3.18 and HU: 3.46). The evenness index (E) values in the dry and rainy seasons were (KU: 0.8 and HU: 0.9), while the dominance index (C) in the dry and rainy seasons were (KU: 0.065 and HU: 0.04). Environmental parameters measured in both seasons were air humidity ranging from 39-46% in the dry season and 40-50% in the rainy season. Air temperature ranged from 27-35°C in the dry season and 27-33°C in the rainy season. Light intensity ranged from 6,664-139,500 lux in the dry season and 4,900-61,600 lux in the rainy season. Wind speed ranged from 0-1.6 m/s in the dry season and 0-1.2 m/s in the rainy season. There are 8 species included in the IUCN red list in the Least concern category, namely Graphium sarpedon, Troides helena, Danaus chrysippus, Melanitis leda, Eurema hecabe, Zizina otis, Zizula hylax and Lampides boeticus. T. helena is also protected by the Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia and CITES in the Appendix II category. The remaining species (61 species) are included in the not evaluated category. Based on the results, it can be concluded that the diversity index (H') and evenness (E) values are in the high category while the dominance index (C) is low, and the measurement of environmental parameters obtained optimum results for butterfly life.
