Abstract

In the current world situation, the conflict between Palestine and Israel has become a major international issue. The conflict that has been going on for decades has significant political, social and humanitarian consequences. To support the Palestinian cause, the National Sharia Council of the Indonesian Ulema Council (DSN MUI) issued Fatwa No. 83 which regulates the law of supporting the Palestinian cause. In the fatwa, the DSN MUI emphasizes the importance of Muslim solidarity in supporting the Palestinian cause, taking into account fellow Muslims who are experiencing prolonged conflict. Such support is not only moral, but can also be in the form of material and political support that helps Palestinians fight for their rights. This research tries to answer the main question: Why is the DSN MUI Fatwa No.83 of 2023 concerning the law of support for the Palestinian cause applied in Indonesia?; How is the application of the Fatwa in view of Saddu az-zari’ah ?; This research is a library research by considering previous research. This research approach is normative research. Researchers chose normative research that uses the theory of Saddu az-zari’ah . This research uses a data analysis system that is carried out with an analytical approach to the object under study. The object studied by the researcher is the boycott phenomenon which is the recommendation in the MUI DSN Fatwa No.83 of 2023 concerning the law of support for the Palestinian cause. The nature of this research is analytical descriptive research, providing a detailed description of a problem, symptom, fact, and reality at large and analyzed using theory in depth so that a new understanding is obtained. The results of this study state that the establishment of Fatwa DSN MUI No. 83 of 2023 is a form of Indonesia's support for Palestinian independence. This support is not only based on diplomatic relations, but also part of the basic principles of Indonesia's foreign policy which rejects all forms of colonization and oppression. One form of Indonesia's support for the Palestinian cause is through fatwas. Indonesia's stance in supporting the Palestinian struggle is the purpose of the implementation of Fatwa DSN MUI No.83 of 2023 designed to support the Palestinian struggle by considering various aspects not only from the religious side. In addition, based on the perspective of Saddu az-zari’ah , first, the legal changes that result in the application of this fatwa, which initially transactions against Zionist products are permissible become haram. Second, closing the greater mafasad with a smaller mafasad, boycotting Zionist products is expected to stop the damage caused by Israeli aggression against Palestine. Third, the recommendation to boycott Zionist products as a form of support and attitude towards the Palestinian struggle.
