Abstract
This topic was chosen on the basis that women's leadership has always been an interesting issue to discuss, especially at conferences with the success of an educational institution in forming the religious character of maha santri. Therefore, it is important to carry out studies on women's leadership in scientific research, in order to provide freshness and present new findings based on facts that occur in the field. This research aims to, firstly, find out why women's leadership management is needed in developing the religious character of maha santri. Second, find out how women's leadership management strategies are in developing the quality of religious character of maha santri. Third, find out how the influence of women's leadership management has on the development of the quality of religious character of the students of Al-Munawwir Islamic Boarding School, Al-Fatimiyah Putri Krapyak Yogyakarta Complex. Data analysis uses the character theory of female leaders Abdurdane and Naisbiit, and the religiosity theory of Glock and Stark. This research is field research, using qualitative descriptive methods with a phenomenological approach. Researchers collected data by carrying out four techniques, namely, observation, interviews, documentation and testing the validity of the data by applying participation, triangulation of sources, techniques and time. Data processing and analysis is carried out by collecting data, reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. The research results show that; Firstly, the background to the need for women's leadership management in developing the religious character of Islamic students, there are four main factors, namely; 1) have the ability as a leader, 2) involvement of administrators, 3) obedience of students, 4) good communication. Second, the women's leadership management strategy in developing the quality of religious character of maha santri uses five approaches, namely; 1) empower, 2) restructure, 3) teach and provide an example, 4) encourage openness, 5) provide opportunities. Third, the implications of women's leadership management in developing the religious character of maha santri include five main dimensions, namely; 1) The dimension of belief, in Islamic boarding schools, belief in Allah, His Messenger, and Islamic teachings is used as the main basis for carrying out every activity and worship. 2) The dimension of worship, the majority of all students perform the five daily prayers, fasting, zakat, Hajj (for those who are able), reading the Koran, praying and other ritual activities of worship. 3) Dimensions of religious knowledge, maha santri have good knowledge and understanding regarding religious knowledge taught by teachers. 4) The experiential dimension, students have had deep spiritual experiences, such as feelings of closeness to Allah, love for Allah, inner peace, an attitude of trust, prayers are answered and a deep understanding of the rituals of worship which have become a daily routine in Islamic boarding schools. 5) The practice dimension has been applied by mahasantri through various social activities such as being a boarding house administrator, sacrificial animal committee, haul committee, social service, blood donation, health check and eye check.
