Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of passion on job satisfaction in Generation Z in the workplace by using the mediating role of Off-task thoughts at work and On-task Thoughts off work. The sampling technique in this study used a purposive sample method. A total of 201 respondents from Generation Z in Indonesia and working in various industrial sectors participated in this study. The data analysis method in this study uses SEM-PLS. A total of 6 out of 12 hypotheses proposed in this study were accepted. The results of this study show that Harmonious Passion has a positive influence on job satisfaction, both directly and through the mediation of Off-task thought. However, Obsessive Passion does not have a significant direct effect on job satisfaction. Through mediation analysis, it was found that Off-task Thoughts at work successfully mediated the relationship between Harmonious Passion and Job Satisfaction and between Obsessive Passion and Job Satisfaction. However, On-task Thoughts off work is not able to mediate the relationship between Harmonious Passion and Obsessive Passion with Job Satisfaction. Furthermore, the implications of this research are expected to be the basis for formulating more effective human resource management strategies.
