Abstract

Students often use the internet for educational and entertainment purposes, but excessive use can lead to addiction that disrupts life balance. This study aims to determine the relationship between internet addiction with self-control and social interaction. The research subjects reached 385 students who were selected using the quota sampling technique. Data collection was conducted through three measurement scales, namely the internet addiction scale, self-control, and social interaction. The results of multiple regression analysis showed that self-control and social interaction were simultaneously negatively related to internet addiction. In addition, the pearson correlation results show that these two variables also have a partially negative relationship with internet addiction. Thus, the higher the internet addiction, the lower the self-control and social interaction. This research is expected to encourage students to increase self-control, strengthen social interactions, and set clear boundaries in the use of the internet in order to create a balance in their lives.
