Abstract
This research is motivated by differences in social emotional development between children who attend Islamic boarding schools, which receive intensive religious education for 24 hours, and children who attend state schools. Is there a difference in their social emotional development when seen from the influence of the religious education they received. This research aims to find out how PAI is at the integrated SMP Islam Umar Bin Abdul Aziz Wahdah Islamiyah Baraka and at SMP Negeri 1 Baraka, what is the social-emotional development of students at the integrated SMP Islam Umar Bin Abdul Aziz Wahdah Islamiyah Baraka and students at SMP Negeri 1 Baraka, as well as to find out the role of Islamic religious education in the process of students' social-emotional development. The research uses a comparative qualitative approach. Data was collected using observation, interviews and documentation methods. Researchers divided research subjects into two categories, namely in tegrated SMP Islam Umar Bin Abdul Aziz Wahdah Islamiyah Baraka and SMP Negeri 1 Baraka. Sources of research data are students, PAI teachers, parents and dormitory supervisors. The data validation is credibility of the data. The results found in this study include: 1) The form of Islamic Religious Education learning in the integrated SMP Islam of Umar Bin Abdul Aziz is classical, SMP Negeri 1 Baraka Islamic religious education teaching is included in the subjects of Islamic religious education and character education. There is also religious learning outside the subjects, namely BTQ, and the habit of praying dzuhur in congregation, 2) The social-emotional development of students at SMP Islam Umar Bin Abdul Aziz Wahdah Islamiyah Baraka and students of SMP Negeri 1 Baraka are included in having good development. However, the shy attitude that is still dominant in their social-emotional development causes students to tend to be less confident in interacting with new social environments. In terms of independence, students have quite good development of independence. However, in terms of time management skills and completing personal tasks, students from SMP Islam Umar Bin Abdul Aziz Wahdah Islamiyah Baraka are superior compared to students from SMP Negeri 1 Baraka, 3) Islamic Religious Education taught to children plays a major role in their social emotional development, especially in terms of emotional management, and character formation to be better in accordance with Islamic teachings in living a more dignified social life, in the realm of social development, if children understand well about what is prohibited in religion, they will always be careful in acting in their daily lives.
