Abstract
The tofu production process can produce various types of waste, one of which is liquid waste. Tofu wastewater is known to still contain organic content such as protein and carbohydrates in quite high levels. The fairly rich organic content in tofu wastewater allows this waste to be used as a provider of C and N sources in the production of single cell protein (SCP) with microorganisms. This study aims to produce SCP from Saccharomyces cerevisiae in tofu wastewater fermentation media and its application as additional nutrition in fish feed. Variations in fermentation time (24, 48 and 72 hours) and pH levels (4, 5 and 6) were carried out in fermentation to determine the optimal conditions for dry cell weight and protein content produced. SCP from S. cerevisiae fermentation in tofu wastewater produced optimal dry cell weight and protein content in the 48th hour of fermentation, pH 5 with 0.288 gram and 2.074 mg/mL. SCP as a product rich in protein can meet the protein needs of fishery commodities. Nile tilapia fish (Oreochromis niloticus) was chosen as the test fish because it is one of the fish that is popular with the community and has high nutritional content. The comparative test involved giving commercial pellets and pellets with additional PST extract to different groups of nile tilapia and resulted in absolute weight growth and body length increase of fish in the treatment B2 with each of 7,88 gram and 7,8 cm and survival rate 100 % Keywords: Tofu wastewater, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Single cell protein, fish feed, Nile tilapia fish
