Abstract
The background of this study emerged based on a kayik nari beterang ceremony culture in South Bengkulu which is rich in meaning in every process of the ceremony, but along with the development of increasingly developing technology, the younger generation and some people do not understand the meaning of this kayik nari beterang ceremony, people only fulfill customary law which is obligatory to carry out without knowing the meaning contained in the kayik nari beterang ceremony, so this gives rise to a research concept that aims to find out what the kayik nari beterang ceremony tradition is, how the process and stages are, what are the meanings contained in the tools and materials and stages of the kayik nari beterang ceremony tradition process from the perspective of Islamic Education values and how the concept of social status of girls is seen from the kayik nari beterang ceremony tradition procession. This study uses a qualitative methodology with an ethnographic approach, this study was conducted in Air Kemang Village, South Bengkulu Regency for approximately 2 months, with the determination of research subjects using the purposive sampling technique, namely village heads, traditional leaders, community leaders, midwives, parents of bunting kecik who carry out the kayik nari beterang ceremony tradition and their bunting kecik. Data collection techniques through observation, interviews, documentation, and data validity testing using triangulation. Data analysis techniques using the Spradley model which makes taxonomic analysis and domain analysis. The results of the reseach concluded that: First, kayik nari beterang ceremony tradition is a circumcision ceremony for girls aged 6 to 11 years, in the process and stages of the kayik nari beterang ceremony tradition consists of four stages, namely first, the event party visits the midwife to determine the day and date of the event and record what tools and materials will be needed, second bathing, third dressing up and the fourth dancing or beterang. Second, then in the meaning of the tools and materials from the perspective of Islamic Education values, there are three, namely the value of faith, moral values and Sharia values, Third, concept of social status in the kayik nari beterang ceremony tradition is an intermediary for girls to get the title bunting kecik which marks a new role in their lives in society, and they have completed the customary pillars.
