Abstract

Religious conversion carried out by individuals often poses various challenges, including in family life. For converts, the decision to change beliefs often triggers conflict with families who still adhere to their previous religion. In this context, religious institutions have a strategic role in providing guidance and mediation to prevent and resolve family conflicts faced by converts. This study aims to analyze the efforts and strategies implemented by the Yogyakarta Mualaf Center Institute in preventing and handling family conflicts of converts. The research method used is a qualitative method with a Qualitative-Descriptive approach, where data is collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation studies of the institution's programs and policies. To analyze the data obtained, this study uses a social system theory framework with the AGIL framework concept approach developed by Talcott Parsons and conflict management theory. This approach is used to understand how religious institutions adapt (Adaptation), achieve goals (Goal Attainment), integrate various elements in their social system (Integration), and maintain social patterns and values that support the stability of the convert community (Latency). In addition, conflict management theory will help in identifying the conflict resolution patterns applied and the effectiveness of the strategies used in the mediation process and conflict intervention of Muslim families. The results of the study showed that the Mualaf Center Yogyakarta runs various programs such as personal and collective coaching, providing rescue and evacuation teams to help Muslim converts deal with social and family pressures. In addition, this institution also collaborates with social and legal organizations to provide protection for Muslim converts who experience discrimination or persecution. With this program, the Mualaf Center Yogyakarta plays a significant role in creating a conducive environment for Muslim converts to adapt to their new beliefs without fear of pressure from family or other parties.
