Abstract
The quality of human resources can be formed through several things, one of which is emotional intelligence and good and ideal Leadership skills that support the character formation process, especially for the younger generation. This research needs to be done because it will reveal the hidden Leadership potential of female students, as well as how emotional intelligence in each individual female student can play a role in character formation in themselves. This study aims to determine and empirically test: (1) the correlation between emotional intelligence and the character of female students in class 5 KMI at Gontor for Girls Campus 3, (2) the correlation between Leadership skills and the character of female students in class 5 KMI at the Modern Islamic Boarding School Darussalam Gontor for Girls Campus 3, (3) the correlation between emotional intelligence and Leadership skills with the character of female students in class 5 KMI at Gontor for Girls Campus 3. This research is a quantitative research with correlational type. The subjects of the research were 88 female students of class 5 KMI, because the student of class 5 KMI have a more active role as the right hand in coordinating the activities at the boarding schools. The variables in this study consist of dependent variables, namely female students' characters and independent variables, namely emotional intelligence and Leadership skills. Emotional intelligence data were measured using the Emotional Intelligence Scale, Leadership skills data were obtained using the Leadership Skills Scale and female students' character data were reviewed using the Female Students' Character Scale. The three instruments have passed validity and reliability tests, obtaining a reliability coefficient of 0.918. The data analysis techniques used were product moment correlation and simple regression analysis at a significance level of α = 0.05. This measuringinstruments are presented in the form of a Likert Scale which has five alternative answers, so that respondents give a tick (√) in the answer column provided. The findings of the research results show 1) there is a positive and significant correlation between emotional intelligence and the character of female students in class 5 KMI, obtained a correlation figure of 0.762 with a significance of p = 0.000 where p <0.01 and an effective contribution of 58.1%, 2) there is a positive and significant correlation between Leadership skills and the character of female students in class 5 KMI, obtained a correlation figure of 0.244 with a significance of p = 0.000 where p <0.05 and an effective contribution of 6%, 3) there is a positive and significant correlation between emotional intelligence and Leadership skills together with the character of female students in class 5 KMI, obtained a correlation figure of 0.769 and an effective contribution of 59.1%.
