Abstract

In building a business, packaging has become a strategic element that not only functions to protect the product during distribution and storage, but also increases the visual appeal and selling value of the product. This study aims to design improvements to the design of bag product packaging using the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method. This method was chosen because it is able to translate consumer needs and desires into technical specifications that can be applied in the design process. The data obtained were then analyzed to identify the most important attributes for consumers related to packaging, such as safety, aesthetics, ease of use, and environmentally friendly. Furthermore, mapping was carried out using the House of Quality to connect customer needs attributes with the technical characteristics of the packaging. The results of the study showed that the packaging attributes that were prioritized in making improvements to the design of secondary bag packaging were adding detailed product information with an absolute value of 2.65 and a priority value of 0.12. Then the last priority on the attribute was to create variations in packaging size with an absolute value of 0.53 and a priority value of 0.02. The packaging design after evaluation was designed not just as a wrapper, but a representation of durable, sustainable, and meaningful values. Functionality is the soul in every curve of the design, ensuring a practical, efficient, and safe consumer experience. Through this approach, packaging design is not only a complementary element of the product, but also acts as a medium for communicating brand values, innovation, and responsibility towards the future. These design improvement recommendations are expected to improve product competitiveness and overall customer satisfaction.
