Abstract

It should be understood that in living a family and household life, of course, it will experience ups and downs and will not escape problems or conflicts. Nowadays, domestic violence (KDRT) is rampant, where the victims are dominated by women. In overcoming the negative impact of domestic violence, individuals will certainly make various efforts or certain actions, this is commonly referred to as a coping strategy. Coping strategy is a condition when individuals attempt to change conditions or emotional responses to things that cause physical and psychological stress. The purpose of this research is to analyze the forms of coping strategies applied by mothers of domestic violence victims in overcoming the impact of domestic violence. This research uses descriptive qualitative method with case study research type. The main subject in this study is LIW who is a mother of domestic violence victims, while the supporting subjects are psychologists, supervising social workers, and close friends of fellow PPKS at BPRSW. The results of the research findings show that the coping strategies applied by mothers of domestic violence victims are seeking social support, confrontative, self-control, accept responsibility, distancing, and avoidance.
