Abstract

This study explores the contribution of LAZNAS Inisiatif Zakat Indonesia (IZI) Yogyakarta in supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs are a global agenda comprising 17 development goals, emphasizing the collaboration of various sectors—including philanthropic organizations—in addressing social, economic, and environmental issues. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach on IZI Yogyakarta. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving IZI representatives and program beneficiaries. The findings indicate that IZI Yogyakarta has significantly contributed to several SDGs indicators, particularly in poverty alleviation, education enhancement, as well as economic and health empowerment. Flagship programs such as the Patient Shelter House, Smartfarm Academy, and tahfidz scholarships demonstrate these contributions. The strategies employed include community-based empowerment approaches, collaboration with local partners, and productive management of ZISWAF funds. However, challenges remain in systematically measuring SDG contributions and the lack of structured documentation. The study recommends improving program evaluation and documentation based on SDG indicators to ensure that the contributions of Islamic philanthropy are both measurable and impactful.
