Abstract
Students are certainly required to become more independent and capable of facing various new problems and challenges. In undergoing this transition period, not only academically, but also emotionally and socially. Therefore, self-regulation skills are important to be able to manage oneself and survive in facing various pressures and dynamics of life in this phase. This study aims to investigate the relationship between fathers' involvement in childcare and emotional maturity with self-regulation among college students. The research method used is quantitative correlational. The research instruments include the Short Regulation Scale (SSR), the Father Involvement in Childcare Scale, and the Emotional Maturity Scale. The sample in this study consisted of males and females aged 18–25 years who still had fathers, resided in, and were active students at one of the universities in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The sample was selected using purposive sampling. Data analysis used multiple linear regression techniques with Jamovi software version 2.3 for Windows. The results showed that the major hypothesis was accepted, meaning that there was a significant positive relationship between father involvement in parenting and emotional maturity with self-regulation. The contribution of the variables of father involvement in parenting and emotional maturity to self-regulation was 41.4%. Additionally, the results of the first and second minor hypotheses were also accepted, where father involvement in childcare contributed effectively by 7.39% and emotional maturity contributed effectively by 50.8%.
