Abstract

This study aims to explore self-awareness in career planning among students who are members of the Kalijaga Esport community at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. The background of this research stems from the increasing unemployment rate among university graduates and the confusion many students face in planning their careers, especially those who have a strong interest in gaming. This research uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and observations involving three active students in the Kalijaga Esport community. The findings indicate that emotional self-awareness, accurate self-assessment, and self-confidence play significant roles in their career planning process. Although the informants experience confusion and uncertainty, they also show developing self-reflection and efforts to align their gaming interests with realistic career opportunities. This study emphasizes that self-awareness is a crucial foundation for students in designing a more directed and meaningful career future.
