Abstract

PT Ruby Artisan Internasional is a manufacturing company engaged in the wood craft industry and has penetrated international markets such as Malaysia, Cambodia and Japan. However, the company faces problems in the arrangement of the production area, such as untidy laying of raw materials, obstructed access paths, accumulation of waste, and the order of work stations that do not match the process flow. This causes the paths between stations to collide with each other and reduces work efficiency.This research aims to design an alternative layout of production facilities that is more efficient by minimizing displacement distance and material handling costs (OMH). The approaches used include Fuzzy-Activity Relationship Chart (Fuzzy-ARC) to analyze the relationship between stations, CRAFT method to design the proposed layout, and simulation using FlexSim to compare the OMH of the initial and proposed layouts.The results showed that the proposed layout was able to reduce the displacement distance in the spoon production process by 689 meters and the bowl by 44 meters. OMH reduction was recorded at Rp14,550 (40.60% efficiency) for spoon and Rp900 (23.77% efficiency) for bowl.
