Abstract

This research aims to identify the ergonomic analysis of the reading room and general collection area of the Grhatama Pustaka Library of DPAD DIY. Ergonomics in the reading room and general collection area is an important indicator that can provide comfort and safety for library users. This research employs a qualitative method with interview, observation, and documentation techniques. Research subjects were selected based on the 3M principle, namely having knowledge, understanding, and direct experience related to the research theme. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured using source triangulation and technique triangulation, which involved comparing information from various methods and sources. The results of this study indicate that the Grhatama Pustaka Library of DPAD DIY has implemented several ergonomic principles in its reading room and general collection area. This is demonstrated by the ergonomic aspects implemented, namely: lighting, temperature, humidity, air circulation, noise, mechanical vibration, workplace odors, color scheme, decoration, music in the workplace, and workplace safety. There are also spatial layout aspects related to the ergonomics of the reading room and general collection area. The implementation of ergonomics in the reading room and general collection area of the Grhatama Pustaka Library has been carried out well, as indicated by the comfort of library users. Nevertheless, there are still several things that need attention in each ergonomic aspect to improve the comfort of library users, one of which is in the aspects of lighting and air circulation which show a lack of implementation in accordance with established standards. Therefore, there is a need for aspects to be improved or adjusted to the established standards and the needs of library users.
