Abstract
Divorce has become a phenomenon that continues to rise in various regions, including Bantan District, Bengkalis Regency. Many people decide to remarry after divorce in an effort to build a new life that is more emotionally and economically stable. However, second marriages often face more complex challenges than first marriages, especially in terms of household resilience and harmony. These challenges include self-adjustment with the spouse, family dynamics with children from the previous marriage, and economic and social factors that may affect household stability. This study aims to identify the efforts divorced couples make to build resilience and household harmony in their second marriage, and the factors that influence their success, and to find out whether divorced couples in their second marriages show characteristics of family resilience. This type of research is field research with a descriptive approach. While the data analysis method used is qualitative deductive. This research uses primary data sources obtained directly from divorced couples who remarry in Bantan District, supplemented by secondary data sources which include books, scientific articles, journals, and laws and regulations relevant to the subject under study, such as Law No. 1 of 1974 on Marriage, Law No. 52 of 2009 on Population and Family Development, and the Compilation of Islamic Law (KHI) on the rights and duties of married couples. In this research, the author uses the family resilience theory to analysis the results of this research. The results showed that the main strategies used in building resilience and household harmony in second marriages were open communication, building joint commitments, spending quality time with family, and applying justice in childcare. In addition, economic factors, interpersonal communication, the role of extended family, trust and loyalty, and religious factors also have a significant impact on household harmony of divorced couples in second marriages. Then there are three levels of family resilience, namely families with strong indicators of resilience, families that are still in the process of becoming resilient, and low resilience.
