Abstract
Academic stress is one of the common challenges faced by students, especially when dealing with high academic demands. One factor that can influence the level of academic stress is parental attachment. This study aims to determine the relationship between parental attachment and academic stress among students writing their theses in DIY. The population used in this study consists of active undergraduate students at universities in DIY who are currently writing their theses, with a sample size of 226 students from several universities in DIY. The analysis technique employed was simple linear regression analysis. The results of the. The results of the hypothesis test showed a significant negative relationship between parental attachment and academic stress among students writing theses in DIY. This means that the higher the level of parental attachment among students in DIY, the lower the level of academic stress they experience. The contribution of the parental attachment variable to academic stress was 11.7%. Thus, it can be said that 11.7% of the variation in academic stress is influenced by parental attachment. Furthermore, based on additional analysis results, there were no differences in academic stress based on demographic data, such as age, gender, semester, parental marital status, parental completeness status, parental income, and residential status. This study is expected to contribute to the development of psychology, particularly in understanding the role of parental attachment on academic stress among students in DIY.
