Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the availability of library materials on meeting the information needs of students at the University Library of Muhammadiyah Kupang. The availability of library materials includes print and electronic collections that are assessed based on completeness, currency, relevance, and quality. Meanwhile, the fulfillment of student information needs is measured through cognitive, affective, and personal integration dimensions that are directly related to student academic activities. This study uses a quantitative approach with a descriptive correlational method. Data were obtained through distributing questionnaires to 381 students from six faculties at Universitas Muhammadiyah Kupang. The data analysis technique used was simple linear regression with the help of the SPSS program version 26. The results showed that: 1). The level of availability of library materials at the University Library of Muhammadiyah Kupang has 6 indicators with 18 question items with a Grand Mean value of 2.47 included in the sufficient category. 2). The level of fulfillment of student information needs is measured in 26 questions with a Grand Mean value of 2.401 including in the moderate category. 3). The results of statistical analysis with simple linear regression show a positive and significant influence between the availability of library materials on meeting student information needs. 4). The availability of library materials makes a considerable contribution to the fulfillment of student information needs with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.943.
