Abstract

This research is about the hadith prohibiting the boasting of nasab from the perspective of the study of ma'anil hadith, which is the science that studies the understanding of the meaning of hadith texts and how to understand hadith appropriately and according to its context. This research is based on individuals who often boast of their own self-interest. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to find the authenticity of hadith, the application of the understanding of hadith according to Yusuf al-Qaradawi’s theory and the context of the hidden meaning of the hadith prohibiting the prohibition of boasting of nasab. In this study, a qualitative method with a contextual approach was used. The primary sources used by the researcher are the books of Saheeh Muslim, Sunan Tirmidhi and Musnad Ahmad, this research uses the help of hadith software. According to most hadith scholars, it is forbidden to boast of nasab to get the title of ṣahih hadith, while the understanding of hadith according to Yusuf al-Qaradawi’s theory in general should not boast of nasab and the contextualization of this hadith is according to the maqasyidi theory of the importance of this hadith to maintain the five aspects that must be maintained in the sharia of the Islamic religion.
