Abstract

PPIU or Umrah travel plays an important role in transferring knowledge about Umrah worship to the congregation. In it, communication occupies a vital and crucial position regarding the matter in question. Therefore, this research focuses on seeing how communication is applied by PPIU in transferring knowledge about Umrah worship to the congregation in the Umrah manasik training. This research establishes Hasuna Tour Yogyakarta as a PPIU that is observed, researched, and analysed. The analysis of this research uses Joseph A. DeVito's interpersonal communication theory. The purpose of this research is to find out how communication is applied by Hasuna Tour Yogyakarta and analyse the communication applied to the Umrah rituals coaching. This type of research is qualitative using observation, interview, and documentation methods. The results of this study include: first, the communication applied by Hasuna Tour Yogyakarta in the Umrah rituals coaching is based on situational awareness. In the context of Umrah manasik coaching, the mentors base their communication practices on a clear relationship, between the mentor and the congregation. Therefore, the communication applied by this PPIU is interpersonal; bound by situational awareness and bound by clear relationships with the aim of transferring knowledge about Umrah worship; secondly, this study sees that the five aspects of Joseph A. DeVito's interpersonal communication are also considered and applied by this PPIU in the Umrah rituals coaching. The five aspects in question can be seen from some of the interview results obtained by researchers both from Hasuna Tour Yogyakarta and from the congregation.
