Abstract

Poverty is one of the fundamental problems in economic development, especially in developing countries like Indonesia. At the regional level, poverty also exhibits distinct characteristics, as reflected in Central Sulawesi Province, which continues to face structural barriers in reducing poverty incidence. This study seeks to examine the effects of economic growth, Human Development Index (HDI), population size, income inequality, and the open unemployment rate (OUR) on poverty levels across 13 regencies/municipalities in Central Sulawesi Province. Employing a panel data model, the research integrates time-series data for the 2019–2024 period with cross-sectional data from 13 regencies/municipalities, namely Banggai Islands, Banggai, Banggai Laut, Poso, Donggala, Toli-Toli, Buol, Parigi Moutong, Tojo Una-Una, Sigi, Morowali, North Morowali, and Palu City. The findings reveal that GRDP, HDI, and population size significantly affect poverty levels, whereas income inequality and the open unemployment rate do not exert a significant influence.
