Abstract

This study aims to describe the self-acceptance of young adults with physical disabilities due to accidents to manage the problems they face and share life experiences related to the loss of a limb. The subjects in this study consisted of two young adult males who experienced physical disabilities due to accidents. The method used in this study was a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data collection techniques used semi-structured interviews and observation. Data analysis techniques consisted of processing and preparing data, reading all data, coding data, connecting themes or descriptions, and interpreting themes or descriptions. The results of the study showed that the self-acceptance of young adults with physical disabilities due to accidents in both subjects showed that both were able to manage and overcome negative feelings that arose such as sadness, shock, fear of the future, and depression. The ability to slowly adjust their daily activities to post-accident conditions, the ability to adjust actions and each informant had hope for the future and to continue living. The conclusion of this study is that both informants demonstrated good self-acceptance after experiencing an accident that resulted in the loss of a limb. This included managing the negative emotions that arose, accepting God's will, gradually adjusting their daily activities, adapting to their post-accident physical condition, engaging in positive activities to divert negative emotions, focusing on self-improvement, continuing to foster family ties, and deepening their religious knowledge
