Abstract
This study aims to describe the implementation process of role-playing to stimulate the social and emotional development of 5-6-year-old children at ABA Tegalrejo Kindergarten. The background of this study is based on the importance of providing social and emotional stimulation to children through activities that are exploratory, fun, and relevant to the child's world. Role-playing was chosen because the learning process provides children with the opportunity to develop their imagination while simultaneously practicing social communication and building interactions with peers. The research approach used was descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that the role-playing method was implemented through pre-play stages (preparing a scenario based on the learning theme outlined in the RPPM and introducing the theme to be played), during play (determining the roles to be played, explaining the roles, and assisting and facilitating the children's role-playing process), and post-play experiences (reflecting through questions and answers and simple discussions). These findings highlight the supporting and inhibiting factors in implementing role-playing to stimulate children's social and emotional development. Supporting factors include active and creative teacher support, children's enthusiasm and involvement, support from the school and parents, and a child-friendly physical environment. Inhibiting factors include limited time for implementation, limited play equipment and media, and children's uneven social skills. This study found that creating children with social and emotional development requires teacher support in the play and learning process, activities that provide children with space for social communication.
