Abstract

This study was motivated by the need for student worksheets (LKPD) integrated with the cultural elements of the Special Region of Yogyakarta, aiming to: (1) analyze the characteristics of the culturally integrated LKPD, (2) examine the quality of the LKPD based on evaluations by media experts, content experts, and teachers, and (3) assess the effectiveness of the culturally integrated LKPD in improving students’ writing skills and self-confidence. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). Data were collected through observation, interviews, expert validation, teacher assessments, student responses, and product effectiveness tests using writing skill tests and self-confidence questionnaires. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics to determine LKPD quality and an independent sample t-test to examine the effectiveness of the LKPD on writing skills and self-confidence. Qualitative data were analyzed descriptively based on observations, interviews, documentation, and expert validation. The findings revealed that: (1) the culturally integrated LKPD was developed in printed format for students and teachers, including material summaries, six culturally infused activities, specific instructions, answer keys, assessment rubrics, and cultural information; (2) LKPD quality, as validated by material and media experts, was categorized as “valid with revisions,” followed by nine teachers’ assessments rating it as “Excellent” (ideal percentage of 85%); and (3) the LKPD was effective in enhancing students’ writing skills and self-confidence, as indicated by independent sample t-test results with significance values of 0.013 < 0.05 for writing skills and 0.014 < 0.05 for self-confidence, suggesting a significant difference between the experimental and control classes.
