Abstract

Indonesia is a country that adheres to a democratic system of government. This democratic system is also implemented in village government, meaning that power originates from and rests with the people. As the democratic system develops in village government, good governance policies also develop. Good governance is a form of development management within government. An understanding of the principles of good governance in government must also be applied to villages. Therefore, the principles of good governance are closely related to Law No. 3 of 2024 concerning Villages because both emphasize the importance of transparency, accountability, and community participation in decision making. This study analyzes the implementation of Law Number 3 of 2024 on the understanding of good governance principles in village government. The objective of the study is to identify the extent to which the law provides a legal framework that supports the implementation of good governance principles at the village level. The study used qualitative methods with a descriptive analysis approach. The research results show that Law Number 3 of 2024 has provided a stronger foundation for the implementation of the principles of transparency, accountability, participation, and responsiveness in village governance. However, gaps remain between the regulations and understanding and implementation in the field. The main factors influencing this gap include human resource capacity, organizational culture, and limited supporting infrastructure.
