Abstract

This research aimed at developing a biological module on the topic of structure and function of plant tissues for class XI semester 1. It is also aimed at exploring the quality of the module which used the approach of Exploration to Nature. They are 7 aspects of assessment, including: the materials, the extent of the materials, language, appearance and layout, text organization, and evaluation. The type of this research is Research and Development (R & D). The module development used the procedures of ADDIE model i.e. Analysis, Design, Development, and Evaluation. The assessment instruments used to determine the quality of the module were the questionnaire sheets. The quality of the module was assessed by a subject matter expert, a media expert, five biology education students as peer reviewers, four biology teachers and 20 students of class XI of SMAN 2 Sleman and MAN Pakem. The results were the form of qualitative data which then were converted into quantitative data to obtain assessment scores. Next, the data were changed into qualitative data to determine the quality of biological module. The module has the following characteristics: in the form of printed media, contains a summary of the topic, activities, bionews, wise words, crossword puzzles, a glossary, and evaluation. Assessment result from a subject matter expert showed a Very Good (SB) with a percentage of 90.63% ideals, a media expert assessment showed a Very Good (SB) with a percentage of 85% ideals, peer reviewers assessment showed a good (B) with a percentage of 75.23% ideals, biology teachers assessment results showed Good (B) with a percentage of 77.56% ideals, and student assessment showed Strongly Agree (SS) with a percentage of 87.12% ideals.
