Abstract

This research aims to identify factors that support the resilience of pesantren in facing social challenges. These factors are useful for addressing problems that occur in pesantren that resist pressures, social and religious challenges that become obstacles to the resilience and existence of Al-Fattah Pesantren in Yogyakarta. This study examines how resilience and development influence the existence of the Transgender Islamic Boarding School Al-Fattah in Yogyakarta. The qualitative research method with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation serves as the key to understanding the resilience process. Existing problems and related factors for strengthening resilience become important information that will be explored through 5 predetermined informants in this research. Similarly, Henderson's Resilience theory serves as the researcher's analytical framework, emphasizing the importance of adaptation and identity strengthening in building resilience. This research aims to examine the resilience of the Transgender Islamic Boarding School Al-Fattah in Yogyakarta. Its existence, which is under pressure with all social stigma and social challenges, becomes an important focus in examining the survival capacity of the Transgender Pesantren Al-Fattah. Resilience viewed through the resilience process that begins with internal cohesion and the development of external factors becomes a key element in dissecting this problem. The resilience formed from existing strategies creates existential resilience for the Transgender Pesantren Al-Fattah. Self-transformation capacity, external protection, and adaptive capacity become the main support for the pesantren's resilience, and it is hoped that this research can provide deep insights regarding the resilience of the Transgender Pesantren Al-Fattah in Yogyakarta, which is able to rise and survive amid stigma and social challenges in its surroundings.
