Abstract

This research discusses the concept of a library as seen from the four basic elements of a library, namely the elements of space, collection of library materials, librarians and users. This research uses qualitative descriptive research to find out the representation of the library in the Mushoku Tensei anime. Furthermore, the data collection methods in this research are observation, literature study, and documentation. Then using analysis techniques with semiotic theory according to Roland Barthes, namely two-level signification with denotation meaning and connotation meaning. And the data validity test in this study uses Credibility (Internal Validity), namely extended observation, increasing accuracy in research, discussions with peers and reference sources. The results of this study indicate that in the anime there are four basic elements of the library in 21 (twenty-one) scenes in the Mushoku Tensei anime. The depiction of the library room in the Mushoku Tensei anime pays attention to aspects of library room planning including functional aspects, psychological aspects of users, aesthetic aspects and safety aspects of library materials.
