Abstract

Speech ability is one aspect of development that needs to be considered early because it can be an important indicator in detecting developmental disorders in children. This study aims to describe teacher strategies in improving the speech development of children with speech delay at Fawwaz Global Islamic School Kindergarten. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study type. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed inductively through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that teacher strategies included planning with early identification and learning preparation, implementation through affection, storytelling, and Montessori methods, the use of flashcards and picture books, and the application of a differentiated learning model. Evaluations were conducted periodically to monitor children's development. Supporting factors included school and social environmental support, collaboration between teachers, cooperation with the hospital, active parental involvement, and therapy history. Inhibiting factors included a lack of initial information from parents, limited communication with the child, and the absence of special programs for children with special needs. The research findings showed a significant improvement in children's speech ability, although intensive guidance from teachers was still needed.
