Abstract

Self-confidence is one of the essential aspects of adolescent psychological development that influences their success in socializing, achieving, and facing life challenges. However, in the era of digital beauty standards, where exposure to the ideal body image on social media is prevalent, many adolescent girls experience pressure regarding their physical appearance, potentially lowering their self-confidence. This study aims to examine the relationship between body image and self-confidence among adolescent girls in the era of digital beauty standards. The research method used was quantitative correlational, with data collected through the Body Image Scale and the Self-Confidence Scale. The study involved 120 adolescent girls in Rembang Regency, Central Java. Data analysis using Pearson correlation test showed a positive and significant relationship between body image and self-confidence, with a correlation coefficient of r = 0.406 and p < 0.001. These findings indicate that the more positive the body image possessed by adolescents, the higher their level of self-confidence. The effective contribution of body image to self-confidence was 16.5%.
