Abstract

Shrimp farming in Sumenep has a positive influence on the regional economy. The success of shrimp farming in Sumenep District is able to raise the level of community welfare. But on the other hand, the waste generated from shrimp ponds has a negative impact on the environment around the ponds because waste disposal is not treated according to the rules. The impact of direct disposal of waste includes polluting seawater and spreading a pungent odour. In the long term, such waste disposal methods can threaten the sustainability of nature and cause wider environmental damage. So the application of the principles of Islamic economic ethics and law is very important in the management of shrimp pond waste in Sumenep so that farmers can maintain a balance between economic aspects with other aspects, namely environmental and social. Based on the background, the author formulates two main problems, namely how the practice of disposal of shrimp pond waste in Sumenep Regency and the analysis of Islamic economic ethics on the practice of disposal of shrimp pond waste in Sumenep Regency. This type of research includes qualitative field research using a normative-empirical approach. An approach that combines normative and empirical legal research. This research is descriptive analytical. Sources of data obtained from primary data sources, namely the results of interviews and secondary data sources in the form of laws, books and articles. While the theoretical framework that becomes the basis for gaining understanding in this research is ethical theory and Islamic economic theory. The results showed that the practice of disposal of shrimp pond waste in Sumenep District can be qualified into three parts, namely the group of farmers who have knowledge related to the harmful effects of waste so that they do waste treatment. the second group knows the impact of waste but does not do waste treatment. the third group has no knowledge of the impact of waste and does not do waste treatment. While the overall behaviour of farmers in Sumenep meets the principles of Islamic economic ethics in terms of carrying out work obligations, diligently working, conducting production in a halal context, having a clear target of producing quality shrimp and producing shrimp according to needs. While some farmers violate the principles of Islamic economic ethics in the form of the obligation to manage waste, produce waste that harms, damages and pollutes the environment, does not have a waste treatment target.
