Abstract

The 9th International Library and Information Science Society (I-LISS) Conference with the main topic “Revisiting Competencies: Preparing the Next Generation of Library and Information Science Professionals” brings together scholars, practitioners, educators, and policy makers to explore emerging themes and innovations shaping the future of Library and Information Science (LIS). With a strong emphasis on digital transformation, cultural preservation, leadership development, and ethical information practices, the conference provides a platform to exchange knowledge and foster collaboration across sectors. Through five key thematic clusters—(1) Digital Competency, AI, and Future-Proofing LIS Professionals; (2) Cultural Narratives, Language, and Heritage in Digital Spaces; (3) Leadership, Soft Skills, and Human-Centered LIS Practice; (4) Ethical, Transformative, and Strategic Information Practices; and (5) Reimagining LIS Education for the 21st Century—participants will engage in critical discussions and share cutting-edge research, practices, and strategies that redefine the role of LIS in the 21st century. The event aims to inspire forward-thinking approaches, strengthen professional capacities, and address global challenges in the evolving information landscape.
