Abstract
The concept of peace serves as a central symbol in the process of humanizing humanity, reflecting a universal aspiration to create harmony amidst conflict. In the anime Naruto Shippuden, this idea is embodied through the leadership of Hokage Hashirama Senju, who exemplifies how peaceful coexistence can be achieved despite long-standing hostilities. His leadership underscores both the value of reconciliation and the moral responsibility of a leader to transcend cycles of violence for the sake of collective well-being. Episodes 368–369 portray the historical conflict between the Uchiha and Senju clans, rooted in vengeance and generational trauma. The narrative highlights the destructive potential of unending retaliation while illustrating Hashirama’s unique capacity to overcome hatred through dialogue, empathy, and a vision of shared prosperity. These efforts altered the trajectory of inter-clan relations and symbolized the possibility of breaking free from cycles of violence, offering a universal lesson on the transformative power of peace. This study applies Ferdinand de Saussure’s semiotic framework to unravel the meanings embedded within the narrative, focusing on linguistic, visual, and symbolic signs that convey ideological values such as justice, power, and moral responsibility. A qualitative approach using documentary analysis was employed, systematically examining dialogues, plot developments, and visual representations in the selected episodes. The findings demonstrate that anime functions as a site of ideological negotiation, particularly in portraying leadership rooted in peace rather than domination.
