Abstract

The various psychosocial challenges faced by students with diverse academic, psychological, cultural, and social backgrounds require individuals to develop healthy and adaptive social relationships. This study aims to analyze the effect of self-efficacy on the quality of social relationships among students and to analyze the effect of self-efficacy with Islamic ecological counseling as a mediating variable on the quality of social relationships among students. The approach used was quantitative with a correlational design, involving 412 students from UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta as research subjects selected through purposive sampling. Quantitative data collection used three measurement scales: the General Self-Efficacy (GSE) scale, the Quality of Relationships Inventory (QRI) scale, and the Islamic Ecological Counseling scale. Data analysis used PROCESS V5.0 by Andrew F. Hayes through the SPSS 31.0 application. The quantitative research results stated that self-efficacy had a direct effect on social relationship quality with a beta coefficient of 0.491 and p<0.05. In addition, Islamic Ecological Counseling was found to mediate the relationship between self-efficacy and social relationship quality with a beta coefficient of 0.225 and p<0.05. These findings identify that strengthening individuals' belief in their own abilities by integrating Islamic ecological and spiritual values plays an important role in forming adaptive social relationships.
