Abstract
Digital media, particularly YouTube, has transformed into a strategic instrument for disseminating messages of peace and religious moderation amidst a pluralistic society. This study investigates how messages of tolerance are represented in the YouTube video "Holyday Part 1 | 6 Tokoh Agama Liburan Bersama" on the Jeda Nulis channel, selected for its novelty in da'wah strategy by shifting from rigid theological lectures to reality show-based edutainment content. The objective of this research is to deconstruct how values of harmony are constructed through natural interactions, humor, and vacation activities among six interfaith figures. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method utilizing Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis to dissect signs through three layers of meaning: denotation, connotation, and myth. The findings reveal that tolerance in this video is not depicted merely as doctrine, but as social ethics that humanize individuals, manifested in four main pillars: (1) social ethics and mutual respect, symbolized through the Ferris wheel philosophy of not looking down on others; (2) freedom of belief without coercion, represented by respecting the Bhante's autonomy not to ride extreme attractions; (3) protection of sacred values, evident in the choice of the replica horse ride to uphold the Buddhist principle of Ahimsa; and (4) freedom to practice traditions, validated through open discussion regarding the diverse holiday rituals of each religion. Regarding scholarly contribution to Islamic Communication and Broadcasting, this study enriches the knowledge of digital da'wah by highlighting a paradigm shift from textual-monologic da'wah to contextual-humanist da'wah, demonstrating that pop culture approaches and friendship narratives in new media are more effective in deconstructing barriers of exclusivity and building inclusive awareness among the younger generation.
