Abstract
Technological advancements and flexible work practices have accelerated remote work adoption, especially among the millennial generation, who are known as digital-native and prioritize work-life balance. This study aims to explore the dynamics of work-life balance among millennial employees who work remotely. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. Participants consisted of three primary informants and three significant others selected through the purposive sampling technique. Data were obtained from semi-structured interviews and analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that work-life balance for the millennials is a dynamic process built by each individual. There is a shift in the meaning of flexibility; it has moved from simply having freedom over work location to having full autonomy in managing work rhythm and energy. This study identified three strategies to achieve this: (1) structured separation; (2) boundary management focused on fulfilling personal needs as the foundation of productivity; (3) dynamic role integration (work-life trampoline). The success of these strategies is supported by the complex interaction between personal autonomy, a flexible remote work system, and a supportive family environment. For this generation, balance is defined as the ability to harmonize various life roles according to individual values.
